XRF (X-ray fluorescence) spectrometer
A Rigaku Supermini wavelength-dispersive XRF spectrometer was installed in the fall of 2009. This unit is fully automated and is supported by a Katanax K1 automatic fluxer and a 25-ton press for making pressed-powder pellets. The spectrometer can be used for major and trace element analysis of a wide range of geological materials. The facility is overseen by Dr. Allen Glazner.
