Rial On The Move

Eariler this month, Dr. Jose Rial gave an invited key-note speech on the nonlinear dynamics of the climate system at UC San Diego at a meeting on the "Multidecadal and Centennial ENSO Variability" (September 2-4). His talk was entitled, "Nonlinear synchronization in the climate system". Later  this month, Dr. Rial will attend a by-invitation-only, an NSF-sponsored workshop on "Autonomous Polar Observing Systems". The workshop will be held in Washington DC from September 29-October 2.

Next month, Dr. Rial has been invited to give the introductory speech at the Climate Change series of talks in the Institute for Geophysical Research of the Theoretical Physics Institute at the University of Alberta, Canada on October 29. His talk is entitled is "Synchronization of the Polar Climates and the origin of the Hemispheric Seesaw".

Finally in the news, Dr. Rial has been appointed by chancellor Thorp to the Advisory Committee on Undergraduate Admissions for the period 2010 to 2013.
