Glazner Receives Sitterson Freshman Teaching Award
Prof. Allen F. Glazner Receives the 2011 J. Carlyle Sitterson Freshman Teaching Award for Excellence in Teaching
Congratulations to Prof. Allen F. Glazner for being this year's winner of the J. Carlyle Sitterson Freshman Teaching Award. This is the second time one of our Geological Sciences faculty has won this prestigious award (Prof. Drew Coleman won it in 2006) and this honor clearly reflects the Department's commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
The Sitterson awards were created in 1998 by the family of the late J. Carlyle Sitterson to recognize excellence in freshman teaching by a tenured or tenure-track faculty member in the College of Arts and Sciences. Lyle Sitterson, was a Kenan Professor of History and Chancellor of the University from 1966-72 and was a passionate advocate for inspired teaching of freshmen students. The first award was given in 2000.
Congratulations Allen!
