Instructions for making posters on Oskin’s plotter:

ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR WORK BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!!!

Save figure in Adobe Acrobat ( pdf) or Adobe Illustrator (AI )format.
Save with at least 200 dpi.

Open the saved file with Adobe PhotoShop to begin conversion.

1). Raster Image using Adobe PhotoShop:

Begin by converting image to RGB (under image menu).
Change the resolution to 200 pixels/inch (File---Open
Filename---Image---Image size---Change Resolution).

2). Rotate 90 degrees so the long axis, (41 inches or less) is the X-axis!
(Image---Rotate---Canvas---90 degrees CWS), so instead of this….

…… .you’ll get this.

3). Save as TIF for PC, no compression at 200 dpi.

At the Plotter:

A). Turn on Scanner first! (THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!) The switch is located at the back of the scanner on the left side. Wait for a green light to appear on the scanner status board, located on the right.

B). Log in on the attached touch pad computer display:

Username: scan
Password: print

C). Follow directions on plotter flat panel screen.

NOTE: When you are making your poster, be sure to keep all adjustments and
data within the field area of the page, (note the little blue square above and
to the left of the poster, it should not be there!) otherwise, when you go
to save you poster its size will change from this…

…to this.

This is what happens when data is outside of the page (note, when you try to open the file, it will give dimensions that are not what you originally wanted.) Example, your poster is 41x75 and when you try to open it says your poster is 65x75.

PLEASE!!!
Make sure you check both paper and plotter ink levels before use! If
Supplies of either are low or empty, LEAVE A NOTE OR TELL SOME
ONE!!!
